Cloud Workstations

Real Macs, built for editorial and color.

Edit and color on a real Mac in the cloud, a bare-metal machine that lives in our data center. Your cloud Mac runs at full performance, your storage is already attached, and your team reaches it from any computer.

The problem

Your best work shouldn't be stuck at one desk.

Editorial and color need serious horsepower and fast access to terabytes of media. When that lives in a tower in one room, you buy machines on a guess, tie your best people to a single desk, and leave remote and freelance editors out. CloudStudio puts the workstation and the media together in the cloud, so your team gets full performance from anywhere.

Bare metal, not virtual

An Edit or Color station for every seat.

Every workstation is a real, dedicated Mac, not a virtual machine and not a virtualized slice of one, so applications behave exactly the way your team expects. Most cloud platforms hand you a Windows or Linux virtual machine, but the people finishing film and television work on macOS. Choose an Edit station for cutting and conform, or a Color station for color and finishing.

  • Dedicated bare-metal Macs in Edit and Color station classes
  • Real macOS, full performance, no virtualization overhead
  • Provisioned per team member, not shared out of a pool
  • Provisioning, status, and access managed from one dashboard
Access

The same session, from any computer.

Your team connects to their station over a low-latency remote session tuned for color-critical work, from a Mac or a PC. The session, the files, and the apps are already there.

  • Connect from any Mac or Windows computer via Jump Desktop
  • Single sign-on, with no separate workstation credentials to manage
  • Low-latency remote sessions suited to editorial and color
  • Sessions and who's connected are visible from the dashboard
Storage, attached

Your storage, mounted when you connect.

When your team connects to a station, the project storage mounts to it through the CloudStudio app, so footage opens at local speed and works with whatever NLE or color app your team already uses. No copying, no hunting for the latest drive.

  • Project storage mounts to the station through the CloudStudio app
  • Files open at local speed and work with any NLE
  • Everyone on the project works from the same media
  • Tiered storage keeps active media fast and finished media cheap
Your apps, ready to go

Run the creative apps you already use.

Because every station is a full macOS machine, your team runs the same applications they know, including DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Avid Media Composer. You can sign in with the licenses you already own, or have us provision a licensed app for you as an optional add-on.

  • Color in DaVinci Resolve on a Color station
  • Cut in Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer on an Edit station
  • Bring your own license, or add a licensed app as an option

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What kind of Macs are the workstations?

Real, bare-metal Macs in our data center. Edit stations handle editorial and conform, and Color stations handle color and finishing. They aren't virtual machines.

How do editors connect?

Through Jump Desktop with single sign-on, from any Mac or Windows computer. The remote session is tuned for color-critical work.

Do I have to move my footage onto the workstation?

No. Your project storage mounts to the station through the CloudStudio app when you connect, so media opens at local speed and works with any NLE. There's nothing to copy.

Can I control who has access to a workstation?

Yes. Access is managed per station from the dashboard, so you decide which team members can connect to which machines.

Can I run DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or Avid Media Composer?

Yes. Because the stations are full macOS machines, your team runs the same creative apps they already use, including DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Avid Media Composer. You can sign in with your own license, or have us provision a licensed app as an optional add-on.
